Kate Bush - Moments of Pleasure.

I felt the need to share this with someone so I thought I'd post it here. Kate Bush is one of my favourite singers and this song is just really beautiful.

Some moments that I've had
Some moments of pleasure

I think about us lying
Lying on a beach somewhere
I think about us diving
Diving off a rock, into another moment

The case of George the Wipe
Oh God I can't stop laughing
This sense of humour of mine
It isn't funny at all
Oh but we sit up all night
Talking about it

Just being alive
It can really hurt
And these moments given
Are a gift from time

On a balcony in New York
It's just started to snow
He meets us at the lift
Like Douglas Fairbanks
Waving his walking stick
But he isn't well at all
The buildings of New York
Look just like mountains through the snow

Just being alive
It can really hurt
And these moments given
Are a gift from time
Just let us try
To give these moments back
To those we love
To those who will survive

And I can hear my mother saying
"Every old sock meets an old shoe"
Isn't that a great saying?
"Every old sock meets an old shoe"
Here come the Hills of Time

Hey there Maureen,

Hey there Bubba,
Dancing down the aisle of a plane,

It's Murph, playing his guitar refrain,

Hey there Teddy,
Spinning in the chair at Abbey Road,

Hey there Michael,
Do you really love me?

Hey there Bill,
Could you turn the lights up?

- That is all :) this song gives me hope.

I Self Medicate With Tea

This is Gerty. My love, my muse... my flame <
The beautiful Emilie Autumn, who is inspired by the Victorian era, baked goods, cabaret and tea, wrote this song which plainly describes me and my current state of mind.

I Self Medicate With Tea - Emilie Autumn

I don't do crack, I've never seen cocaine

And fortunately I rarely pop an Aspirin when in pain

'Cause I wanna be - of alcohol or any drug at all - completely free

But I self-medicate with tea

(doot-da-doot-doot)

I know just where to go to get my fix:

The beverage aisle

At Starbucks, I confess, I get my kicks

I'm not in denial

My oolong heals

Your dealer deals for quite a hefty fee

So I self-medicate with tea

(doo-da-loo-doo)

It's not that I'm not miserable as any old drunk

My life is no more bearable than any old junkie

I'd jump out a window

Suicide's a sin though

I've found another way

There's no amount I wouldn't pay

To overdose on Earl Grey

Or English Breakfast

When I'm hopped up on caffeinated Chai

I'm feeling the buzz

And when you asked if I liked to get high

I already was

It's black or green or in-between

Sometimes it looks like weed

But my self-medicating

Improves my mental stating

I don't need to go to rehab

Or to set up a meth lab

I may be a cynic

But the Betty Ford clinic

Isn't ever gonna break me from my habit of choice

It's my opium, my Xanax and it's good for my voice

I hope you comprehend my reasoning

Twinings, Liptons, even Celestial Seasonings

Keep your marijuana

I got my own remedy

I self-self-medicate with tea

Boom

It's chamomile

Yeah

This gives me a brilliant idea. I am going to make a tea diary. Gerty and I will take on this challenge with integrity and charm.

Next installment: The comfort of Chai.

Assessment #1

Assessment #1

After a few weeks of learning about the websites Blogger, Flickr, del.icio.us and Google/Gmail I have managed to create my own profiles for each of these and use them to their maximum capabilities.

To begin...

BLOGGER - http://hayleyhasablog.blogspot.com/

I have 8 blog posts to my screen name and my recommended are:

Blog 2: FIGHT

University Infirmity

Burger Stackers

Blogger is a really great site! I never thought blogging could be so easy until I discovered this site. My blog isn’t one of deep intellectual discussion or a view into my everyday life, It’s more of a view into my interests and the random thoughts that I feel need to be addressed (however irrelevant and silly they are).

I edited my blog template so it could be navigated easily and set-out neatly for your viewing pleasure, experimenting with fonts, backgrounds and different layouts I viewed the different objects and gadgets available.

Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/hayleymanwaring-mpi104

I uploaded photos from my facebook, my camera’s memory card and my hard drive so my Flickr really has no theme. It’s just a random assortment of pictures I’ve captured over time.

My Photostream has 14 different images in it and i also made a set of the pictures I found of my cat.

I also joined a group with uploaded photo’s of my favourite singer Bjork and favourite some of the images on their page. I also favourite a guys 3D toy art pictures.

Toy Art

Bjork

Del.icio.us

I have 5 bookmarked web pages including my Flickr, my blog and the Master blog so I could get to them easily and also Bjork’s official website and Catch of the Day so I can keep up with the cheap stuff they sell.

Gmail – hayleymanwaring.mpi104@gmail.com

I learned to use the Google Calender, the interesting languages you can choose from (pirate and hacker are particularly funny) create documents, chat to contacts and of course send emails. The last 5 weeks of MPI104 have been SWELL and I can’t wait to do more awesome stuff like this with the wonderful Matt Barron

THANKYOU!

Burger Stackers

Mcdonalds, you either love it or you hate it. I believe not loving McDonalds means you must be some sort of alien life form. Living within driving distance to Maccas is a blessing as much as it is a curse and I couldn't tell you the amount of times I have eaten there just this month! If one thing really peeves me about Maccas it's those people that work there that for some reason do not have the brain capacity to figure out how to stack a burger straight. Here's an example:
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!? I learned how to stack when i was a very young child. I didn't undergo extensive training or take lessons for this shit. No, I didn't. This is how I became the brilliant "burger stacker" that I am today.
I WIN!

University infirmity

I went on a day trip to Canberra with my Mother and Father on Sunday to visit my sister and my nephew. I spent the car trip reading Kick-Ass the graphic novel and whoever of you who have seen the film and thought it was amazing you will be even more blown away by the graphic novel.
"Okay you cunts, let's see what you can do now"
Anyhow, long story short, after going to Belconnen, eating noodles, being enormously aggravated by the lack of wearable clothes there and buying a book we finally left for home where we ate fish and soup.

This is where I believe it all went wrong.

After coming home and having a nice long sleep, my day was going seemingly well. Later in the night I visited my good friend Effy. She had already eaten so I got some left-over KFC from my fridge and heat it up, ready to eat straight from the Tupperware. It was pretty good, even if it had been in my fridge for 4 days.
Later that night it all came back to haunt me.

My illness lasted about 20hours.

I'd like to thank Effy for the Kick-Ass novel, putting me to bed, looking after me and giving me drugs when I was sick.

Delicious

This is my delicious page My Delicious
I hope you enjoy my lovely bookmarks

Flickr is...... swell

I now have a Flikr page! This should be very fun because I find a lot of cool photos I hardly get a chance to share with others. Flickr seems simple to use and I can see everybody else's profiles from my class.  I'm ready to have fun with this :D

Blog 2: FIGHT!

I’ve thought about many different approaches to this here blog page and how I could ever deliver as much wit and amusement for you to read as Ally Brosh does. She is the creator of Hyperbole and a Half. The only blog I have ever bookmarked.
Ok, so here are some different ideas I have to create my omnipotent and all powerful BLOG:
Over a period of 24hrs – This would be eeeeeasy. I would just keep a word document open on my laptop all day so any thoughts, occurrences and encounters during the day can be noted and could possibly be fuel for interesting topics and discussions.

MS Paint – If you checked out the link above for Hyperbole And A Half you would have noticed her intricate images drawn in Microsoft Paint Her images are the only things keeping me truely interested in her blog.
Keeping in consideration that the target audience for comedic blogs are generally bored people who have already been awake for 24 hours straight browsing porn sites, four-chan or.... well, porn sites, they couldn’t possibly be interested in reading some uni-student’s blog about absolute crap. People NEED imagery to stay interested. This is why I’ve created my own MS Paint identity to spark some sort of curiosity and placed it right at the top.

Here’s a picture of a hipogriff I drew (HIPPO-griff)
Blog about Blogs! – I’m hoping that later in the course when I’ve seen everyone’s personal bogs I’ll find one that is remotely interesting and create a response to it.

Hunting for ideas – As anyone here who lives on campus knows, you can (most of the time) walk out of your room and something quirky will be going on. Like the times I walk downstairs to be greeted with “COME PLAY KINGS WITH US!” or “LOOK! WE HAVE CRAYONS!”. Really, it’s happened.

The university student species is no doubt a fascinating one, so I really have NO excuse to have absolutely nothing to blog about. It would be like being David Attenborough lost in the jungle with nothing to be excited about.

If you have pushed through reading to this point then please feel free to use my ideas to create your own blog.
I’m so excited to read what you all have to say, so here’s a picture of a jackfruit.

He is of the mulberry family but can grow to 36 kg! Isn’t that fascinating??
